We didn't give them your email id and I have no control over them. Their list is now on Yahoo, so I guess unsubscribe requests will be honored!:) I am addressing the mail below, and a few related issues which have cropped up lately. I removed the senders name because it was a personal mail, but the issue is definitely open to public debate. Quote: ------------------------------------------------------------------- MT India should primarily focus on MT related issues in general and also achievements which are unique in nature. At no point of time it should so happen that some one uses this as an advertisement platform. The news about Healthscribe using a handheld recorder is something like this. Almost all are using equipment's of this kind. Somewhere the product and the company is getting a mileage which they do not deserve. It is so ordinary a thing to find a mention. Also I am not very much in favor of job related ads in MT India which encourages a trend we are trying to fight out. ------------------------------------------------------------------- I'll take up a point at a time: 1. MTIndia is primarily focussed towards MT. But lately we are also trying to bring to your notice other BPO opportunities in the US Healthcare Industry. I thought that would be a value add - if members are not happy, we can shift these issues to a different list. My opinion is that as of now, this would be immature. 2. Coverage of events - I don't think myself or MTIndia have ever endorsed anything on this medium. Sometimes nothing is happening - so should we stop publishing? Also the news we generally carry are clips from what has already been released and published by the media. If someone is making a mundane, run-of-the-mill statement, as a reader I would logically conclude that they don't have anything better to say :). Nevertheless, we will always strive to give you the most relevant and interesting information. Just a point, I hope you will agree with me here - we don't make news - we just cover it! And there are those dull days:( 3. Advertising and promotions - This is allowed by all rules of the game. Our only promise to you is an advertisement will be spelt out to you in Black & White. We will never allow content and advertisement to be confused in any area - and this policy shall prevail. (BTW - another fact - HealthScribe has NOT YET contributed a single penny to MTIndia's efforts - so we don't even have a motive angle:) 4. And now, I guess I am playing with fire - but I am entitled to my opinions I guess. a) Job Ads - They have always been there and they are going to stay. This is a service to both employers and employees. I don't see why this targeted niche medium should ban job ads related to placements in this sector. If a prospective employer wants to offer more than he should - that is his problem - we can't correct that! Same goes for an employee - a dissatisfied employee will always find a way out. Just because this medium is facilitating the placement market - I do not qualify as a poacher. There has to be a rational comprehension of the term "poaching" when it comes to recruitment. b) Dual Employment - It works in some sectors, doesn't work in others. The market tells me that it is already happening for some time in MT, and MTSOs can't find a way to stop it. I am not talking ethics here - just facts. The simple rule that shall control this phenomena is an MTSO's capability of satisfying an employees needs - financial, intellectual and emotional - completely. If you are offering a half package, expect a half commitment. On the flip side, there always will be people who are just plain greedy - why do you want them anyway? Just weed them out. In conclusion, I want to state a simple fact. If MTIndia does not facilitate a job center, somebody else will - placement is a basic requirement. We consider ourselves to have the best reach and domain knowledge. And we will deal with it as ethically as any placement center deals with such issues in any Industry. At least we openly say what we do and vice versa, and that shall remain. Ethics I find is a bit like religion - very difficult to define and much harder to follow. <Ability - Knowing what you can not do is more important than knowing what you can do. In fact, that's good taste. Lucille Ball (1911-1989)> I didn't make the rules out there. Wish I could, but I can't change them either! So here we go... Regards, Maj (Dr.) Amit Chatterjee, SM

> Subject: HIPAA Discussion about HIPAA has been going on for almost a year-and-a-half now. It is to build firewalls so no one can intercept and maintain confidentiality. When I visited the US last year I was told that even MTs doing work from work need to be HIPAA compliant no matter from where they are transcribing. There are lots of info available on the web site. [MODERATOR COMMENT] Meera, I have been studying the intricacies for the last two years now. If it was that simple, believe me, I would have been a HIPAA consultant today:) <Consulting - If you are not a part of the solution - there's good money to be made in prolonging the problem.> Best, Amit C. > Subject: Dual employment Hi Joshua: I understand your viewpoint regarding dual employment. But no, absolutely no company where you are in for full-time would agree with this. There are 2 things behind this. First, a company wants an employee to be loyal to them, this is nothing to do with master-servant relationship, but this should come out automatically from an employee who is working in a company of repute and that too full-time. And let me tell you this that few companies (and yes, in this MT industry even) pays an incentive for being "loyal" to all of their employee(I think the company/companies acknowledges loyalty as something extra and vital it gets from its employee other than the work). Secondly, tell me as a businessman won't you be interested to know what is going on in the other company if you do have such an employee (or should I call an "informer") and also be apprehensive in keeping such an employee (for the vice-versa to happen to your business). All of the above definitely pertains to somebody going for dual employment in the same field of work. Hence, I strongly feel that being loyal to one's company makes you a very good team player and become a vital member of the company family. Loyalty and Trust are very important for an employer-employee relationship. I would call them also an essential tool which helps both (employee and employer) progress and move ahead to achieve their respective goals. You do not have to play a dual role. Just think about it!! > Subject: Conman! Dear Amit and all! As I was going through the MTIndia Newsletter I came across one gentleman named Apurva Patel's (proprietor of Zenvision Infoworks, Mumbai), idea about forming an apex body of ITES. I doubt and fear he would try to form an apex body of conmen like him. I am sorry to use that term, but the fact is that Apurva Patel cheated more than 100s of MT aspirants by the name of training and security deposit. He has been actively involved in different organizations like Compusys, Indus, Tricom, Zenith, Zenvision, etc. Though the companies were different but the key role was played by Apurva to setup an MT unit and charge hefty amount as Training Fees on an refundable basis, but never kept his words. Not long back he made many companies as his associates and promised to provide 1000's of lines in a day and started with trial files. But the trials lasted for months and months without any sign of any live jobs, thus getting his job done without paying to his associates. Being a member of MT India I feel responsible to warn all the people before they associate with Apurva Patel in anyway. Thanks. Arti Comment?
