Minimum: - 10 + 2, from a recognized board / university.
- Excellant English comprehension, spelling, and usage competency.
- Normal level of audiometric acuity.
Desirable: - Grduation/Postgraduation, especially in lifesciences.
- Reasonably good typing skills.
- Basic exposure to computers.
- An eye for detail.
Though age may not be a bar, candidates should understand that this is neither a higher education nor a managemnt course, but a career change. At 55+, it might not be the best of career moves. Also, only persons whose English skills are at least equivalent to those of a United States high school graduate (12th year, 9th month on the TOEFL scale) should enter medical transcription training. Amongst the many other qualities that a potential trainee should possess, minimum skills in English are most important - the rest might be acquired during training.
